Song lyrics gifts for weddings and anniversaries
How to turn a first dance or anniversary song into a print worth hanging: choosing the song, picking the lyric, sizing it for the wall it will live on, and how long to allow before the date.

The printing is the easy part. What makes a lyrics print land as a gift is the thing no shop can do for you: choosing the right song, and then the right few lines out of it. Get that bit wrong and it is a nice poster. Get it right and it is the only thing on the wall that means something.
Here is how to work through it, and how far ahead to order so it arrives before the day it is meant for.
Start with the song, not the design
For a wedding, the first dance is the obvious choice, and often the right one. But it is worth asking whether the couple has a quieter song — the one from the drive home, the one that was playing in the kitchen, the one that was on when they met. A first dance song is chosen partly for the room. The other one was never chosen at all, which is usually what makes it theirs.
If the print is for someone else and you are not certain, ask the person closest to them rather than guessing. A sibling or a best friend will know the song within a minute, and the surprise survives the question. If nothing comes to mind at all, choosing the song is a longer walk through the same problem.
Then pick the lines that carry it
A print is not a lyric sheet. Two to four lines read as something worth stopping at; a whole verse turns into texture you stop noticing after a week. Our custom lyrics prints lean on that: the layout sets the song out on one side and puts a single highlighted line on the other, so the decision you actually have to make is which line is the line.
Two things worth checking before you send them over. First, the words: lyric sites disagree with each other more often than you would expect, so check against the official release if the line matters. Second, read it cold, without the melody in your head. Some lyrics only work while the song is playing, and a wall is silent.
Size it for the wall it will live on
Prints run in sixteen sizes, from A4 up to A0 and from 8x10 inches up to 30x40 inches. The useful rule of thumb from hanging pictures generally: a print above furniture looks settled when it is roughly two thirds the width of the piece below it. Measure the console, the headboard or the sideboard first, then pick the size, rather than the other way around.
- A small wall, a hallway, a desk shelf: 8x10 inches or A4 does the job without crowding it.
- Above a bed or a sofa: A2 and upward, or a pair hung together if the couple has two songs and cannot choose.
- A wall that is the room’s focal point: A1, A0 or 30x40 inches, where the lyric is readable from across the room.
Once it arrives, hanging it well is its own small skill — heights, spacing and grouping are covered separately.
Framing is a choice at the same point. A framed order arrives ready to hang in solid pine — black, oak or white — with shatter-resistant plexiglass and a hanging kit, which is the safer gift if you want it to go straight on the wall. Unframed prints ship rolled in a tube, cost less to send, and let the recipient match a frame to their own rooms.
The anniversary angle
A first anniversary is traditionally paper, which makes a print an unusually literal fit — and the wedding song the unusually obvious subject. For later years the song does not have to be the wedding song at all. The track from the year they met, or from the year they are in now, is often the better gift precisely because nobody expects it. Occasions either side of the wedding — moving in, an engagement, a first child — have their own answers, collected in music gifts for couples.
Work backward from the date
This is where gifts go wrong, so it is worth doing the arithmetic properly. Every print is made to order and ships within 3-5 business days. Delivery after that runs 2-5 business days in the UK, 3-6 in the EU and 4-7 in the US, and everything ships from the United Kingdom.
For a US address that is roughly 7-12 business days from order to doorstep — call it two and a half weeks — before you allow for anything going slowly. There is one more step to build in: after you order, we send a digital preview for approval, and if we do not hear back within 3 days we print the standard layout so the delivery date does not slip. Answer that message quickly and you keep control of the design; leave it and the clock decides.
Three weeks before the date is comfortable. A week is not, particularly in December, and customs can add time on any order leaving the UK — duties, where they apply, are the buyer’s responsibility. If the date is closer than that, message before ordering rather than after, and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done.
What to put in the personalization box
Each listing states exactly what it needs, and it is usually the song title and artist, the lyrics themselves, the line to highlight, and a color choice from the numbered options in the listing photos. Anything beyond that — a different size, a detail the listing does not offer — is worth a message before you order rather than a note afterward.
The rest of the practical detail, including paper, packaging and what happens if something arrives damaged, is on the FAQ. If you are still deciding what to give, the featured prints are a reasonable place to see what these look like finished.
None of this is the part that matters, though. The song is doing the work. Spend your time there.
